Gentry Fox (born August 15th, 1991) is an American rapper & hip-hop recording artist, record producer, actor & director, designer, label executive, and visionary entrepreneur from the town of Rock Springs in southwestern Wyoming.
President/CEO & Founder of the Rocky Mountain (USA) based hip-hop recording label and artistic collective SUB|ROK RECORDS (https://www.subrokrecords.com), Fox is also an official representative and ambassador of Hip-Hop Roots SLC, the Utah chapter of a regional independent music & art syndicate celebrating the elements of hip-hop culture. Additionally, he is the founding member, producer, and unofficial frontman of the midwest hip-hop outfit Rhyme Squad.
Fox has been writing and producing beats since he was only 11-years-old. He was considered a child prodigy in the early 2000's after creating a controversial pre-YouTube style website called "Gentry's World" in 2004. The website featured various skits and short films created by Gentry and his friends during a time in history where social media was still in the stone age. Although he was unable to transition to a mainstream audience after the success of YouTube, it was during this time where he was first able to demonstrate his abilities as a promising actor & filmmaker. After several years on probation and in and out of detention facilities, Fox decided to say farewell to the site in 2010 shortly before graduating from Independence High School in early 2011. He then decided to leave Rock Springs in pursuit of finding outside opportunities in the music and entertainment industry.
Upon relocating his residence from Wyoming to Salt Lake City, Utah in August 2011, Fox has since built a reputable relationship among his fellow peers and hip-hop influences alike. Linguistically demolishing only the most popular of bars, venues, and events across the nation, Fox delivers incredibly passionate, intelligent, and vigorously hard hitting lyricism over visceral neck cramping boom bap sample heavy based production. His unique style is nostalgic of a conscious and poetic small-town storyteller fused with an almost aggressive street smart mentality similar to that of the early 90's golden age & gangster rap eras. Fox has shared the stage among some of the most influential names in independent hip-hop including Mac Lethal (Rapper/YouTuber), One Be Lo (of Binary Star), Casual (Hieroglyphics), Toki Wright (Rhymesayers), Scarub (Living Legends), Reef The Lost Cauze (Army of the Pharaohs), and many more.
After returning to his hometown of Rock Springs, Wyoming in 2014, Fox began using his newfound success and resources to help solidify and nourish the growing local music scene while continuing to work behind the scenes building his SUB|ROK empire. His debut solo project "RARE DEMO SHIT (vol.1)" was released independently on his label SUB|ROK RECORDS in August 2014 and received critical acclaim from various media outlets all over the world. Fox's sophomore follow up 'RARE DEMO SHIT (vol.2)' is set to release on SUB|ROK RECORDS in Summer 2019.

"Gentry Fox immediately establishes himself as one of the promising artists in the hip-hop underground. Though taken from demos, this album (RARE DEMO SHIT vol.1) is nearly, creatively flawless, with every song punching the listener in the throat. The beats are loud, in your face, and each track shudders with reverberation, adding a vibrantly edgy authenticity to every verse, hook, and bridge, which takes you straight back to that 90’s rap feel. I’ve listened to “RARE DEMO SHIT (vol.1)” front to back numerous times and I’ve finally come to a conclusion, this album is simply amazing, considering it’s based on a demo set. It’s both focused but also chaotic, makes sense right? In a market flooded by auto-tuned hacks, with recycled beats, this is a true revelation."
"In today’s fast paced music industry an artist must be much more than just a person who sings songs. Many hats must be worn to put all the pieces together to achieve the recognition that a songwriter desires. Our latest find Gentry Fox seems to be the complete package in one." -Keith Pro (Indie Band Guru)
"The old school sounds of Gentry Fox’s demos are like a cool drink of water, in a parched desert. It sounds like a classic underground mixtape, complete with skits, scratches, weird samples, and warm vinyl beats. It’s got that analog flavor – chill and headnodding – while still sounding kind of militant and impassioned, like vintage Wu-Tang Clan or Cypress Hill." -J.Simpson (The Drainage)
"When you come across an album name like this one from Gentry Fox, Rare Demo Shit Volume One, well – you never really know what you’re in store for as a reviewer. It could be a cold, hard stroll through the B-sides of a contractual obligation, or simply the cutting room floor from the last sessions…who knows what you’ll hear bump through the speakers. But the best case scenario, is the one that we have here today, where the music flows along like a high-quality mixtape and still contains a cohesiveness within the diversity to make it all feel like it comes together as one." -Jermey Gladstone (Sleeping Bag Studios)
